One of the most well-known television journalists in the Spanish-speaking world, an anchor of Noticias Univision for years, will be leaving the Miami-headquartered TelevisaUnivision family at the end of 2024, following the U.S. presidential election.

What’s next for Jorge Ramos?

That’s what many may be asking as they digest the news that Univision News and Ramos “have mutually agreed not to renew their soon-to-expire contract agreement.”

Ramos, as a news anchor and reporter, helped to build Univision into one of the world’s most dominant Spanish-language news sources. He first joined Univision in 1984 and since 1986 has been an anchor for the network’s primary newscasts.

In a statement released Monday (9/9), Ramos commented, “This is not a farewell. I will continue anchoring Noticiero Univision until December, and afterwards I will share my professional plans. I am deeply grateful for these four decades at Univision and very proud to be part of a team that has established strong leadership over the years.”

Univision News President Daniel Coronell expressed his respect and gratitute for Ramos and all he has done for Univision. “As we look to 2025 and beyond, our talented team is well equipped to continue the tradition of journalistic excellence that has defined Noticiero Univision since the beginning,” he said.
