It serves such municipalities as Hackettstown, N.J., and holds a Construction Permit shifting the facility from a Class B AM to a Class D AM. Soon, it will become 100% owned by one Lawrence J. Tighe, Jr., as an asset sale agreement has been filed with the FCC for its regulatory OK.

It would end a partnership with Norman Worth.

The station Tighe is gaining full control of is Full Service WRNJ-AM 1510 in Hackettstown, as Worth is selling his interest in the hyperlocal facility serving Northwest New Jersey that is also heard on a trio of FM translators.

A stock purchase agreement will give Tighe control of WRNJ and two of those FM signals — W289CR in Glen Gardner, N.J., and W224AS in Washington, N.J.

With Mark Lipp of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth serving as legal counsel, the individual known as Larry Tighe is paying $200,000 to gain control of the facilities.

WRNJ has used the 1510 kHz signal since 1996. Nighttime service commenced in 1999.

If Tighe’s name sounds familiar, it is because he is the station’s founder and before that served as an engineer at Buckley’s Talk WOR-AM 710 in New York.
