A ‘Transformative’ Agreement Arises For Charter, Disney

To the surprise of many across the broadcast media landscape and on Wall Street, Charter Communications, owner of the Spectrum MVPD, and The Walt Disney Co. on Monday (9/11) began the day by ending a bitter 11-day impasse that some analysts believed would last months — or potentially upend the MVPD business permanently.


As the midday hours approached, the two companies formally revealed that they’ve reached a multi-year distribution agreement. And, as Disney and Charter see it, the accord is one “that maximizes value for consumers and supports the linear TV experience as the industry continues to evolve.”
