In the wake of the elimination of federal funding to NPR member stations, tough decisions have come to the noncommercial broadcast operators of these radio stations in recent times. Budget cuts and asset sales have been seen at some high-profile NPR-aligned properties, including Santa Monica College’s KCRW in Southern California.
Now, a pair of Maryland NPR members are engaging in a way that bridges their assets, collectively tapping into their newsrooms while navigating through the fiscal realities of mid-2026 for public broadcasting.
