It is a FM translator licensed to Fort Lauderdale that, incidentally, can’t be heard in Broward County’s largest city. That’s because this 99-watt mini-FM has a highly directional signal pattern putting a signal over such cities as Hollywood, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, Miramar, Pembroke Pines and Cooper City.
That coverage has just enough value for a Boca Raton-based woman to move forward with her purchase of the FM translator, presently used to simulcast a Portuguese-language AM serving the Brazilian community.
W296DK, at 107.1, is being sold.
The FM translator, with a Miami Gardens antenna farm-based transmitter, will become the property of Rivka Kompel and her Satview Media, pending FCC approval.
Satview is paying $400,000 for the FM translator from International Church of the Grace of God.
With Anthony T. Lepore serving as Kompel’s legal counsel and Aaron Shainis acting as the legal counsel for the seller, a 10% escrow deposit has been made and is being held by Jorgenson Broadcast Brokerage.
Included in the tangible personal property is a Kathrein-Scala CA2-FM/50N 107 MHz FM Dipole Reflector Antenna (Qt. 2).
What’s next for the FM translator? That’s up to Kompel as it is presently simulcasting WFLL-AM 1400, home of “Nossa Radio.” WFLL is a reborn WFTL-AM, which was a successful Full Service AM serving Broward County across the 1970s and 1980s.
