A Roanoke FM Translator Is Sold. What’s The Future For BIN?

0

A member of the Epperson family who has been the licensee of an FM translator with a full city-grade signal contour over the largest municipality in Southwestern Virginia has decided to part ways with this facility — today a home for iHeartMedia’s BIN: Black Information Network.

What does the future hold for this mini-FM?

That’s what some may be asking as it pertains to W245BG at 96.9 MHz in Cave Spring, Va., which has been simulcasting W244AV at 96.7 MHz for nearly a decade and before BIN aired “The ALT Project” under iHeart supervision.

Pending FCC approval, W245BG will be acquired by Mahon Communications in a transaction valued at $75,000.

Mahon is led by locally based Dr. David Points, the Detroit-based President of Amanda Health LLC who also owns and operates WFJX-AM 910 in Roanoke, presently home for FOX Radio.

Dr. David Points JD, LLM, Ed.S, PhD

Points, a retired teacher in Detroit Public Schools, spent one year in the Michigan state house as a representative. His Amanda Health Amanda Health began as a clearinghouse providing health and informational services for American Veterans, families and friends. Now, it has expanded to provide educational consulting services for diverse and multicultural communities.

Once the deal closes, BIN is expected to remain in place.
