Two radio station deals have closed, and both feature Patrick Communications as the broker handling the transaction. These deals take top billing in RBR+TVBR’s TRANSACTIONS TODAY for Monday, July 31.

On April 7, Withers Broadcasting Company of Illinois agreed to sell Class A WZZT-FM 102.7 in Morrison; and Class C WSDR-AM 1240 and Class A WSSQ-FM 94.3 in Sterling, Ill., to Virden Broadcasting Co. for $400,000.

Virden is led by President Fletcher Ford, while Withers is overseen by President Dana Withers.

This deal has now closed.

The other deal that’s just closed sees New South Communications, the company led by Holladay family, officially assume control of a Christian-themed FM serving Central Mississippi since 1972.

In a transaction that sees Greg Guy and Jason James of Patrick Communications as the exclusive brokers, Holladay’s New South Radio now owns WHJT-FM 93.5 in the Jackson suburb of Kearney Park, Miss., from Mississippi College for $600,000.

WHJT has a Construction Permit for a Class C3 13.5kw signal, moving up from a Class A 6kw facility based in Clinton, Miss. This boosts WHJT’s coverage area to the north and west of Jackson.
