Travel west of Winston-Salem, N.C., and you’ll reach the Yadkin Valley. Here, a Class A FM licensed to the small city of Elkin is changing hands. Pending FCC approval, that will see the entity linked to Donna Draughn and the late Gary York conclude its ownership of the station.
Yadkin Valley Broadcasting Corp. has agreed to sell WIFM-FM to JKC Media LLC.
That’s an entity that is led by station GM and marketing head Jennifer Chatham.
A purchase and sale agreement filed with the Commission for its approval shows that JKC Media is acquiring both the real estate and license associated with the station. A $800,000 purchase price was agreed to, reflecting the property and goodwill associated with WIFM.
A $10,000 earnest money deposit is being held in escrow by Campbell Law Group PLLC.
Chatham’s legal representative is Patrick Cross of Brooks Pierce.
York, a devout Quaker, passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 82. He purchased WIFM in 2004.
