He was most recently the Chief Legal Officer and a member of the founding leadership team of the now-scuttled joint venture that would have seen ESPN, FOX and Warner Bros. Discovery team up to launch Venu Sports.
Introducing the newest member of the executive leadership team at iHeartMedia.
David Hillman will serve as EVP and Chief Legal Officer, along with holding the title of Secretary, at the nation’s biggest owner of broadcast radio stations. Hillman will oversee all legal matters for the company, including the compliance, regulatory and corporate governance functions, as well as the company’s Government Affairs, Business Affairs and Privacy teams.
Hillman succeeds Jordan Fasbender, who is stepping down on April 30 to become General Counsel of the SpinCo operation being created by Comcast Corp.
Before taking the job at Venu, which will not move forward as ESPN parent The Walt Disney Company opted to purchase “sports first” virtual MVPD service FUBO — ending a lawsuit aimed at blocking Venu — Hillman worked at Paramount Global, last serving as EVP and General Counsel of CBS Sports and CBS News & Stations.
Hillman also served as General Counsel at both Simon & Schuster and the Westwood One national radio business.
“David has very relevant experience across a range of media businesses, as well as specific familiarity with the audio industry,” said Bob Pittman, Chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia. “We believe his wealth of experience will make him an ideal addition to the iHeart executive team as we continue to grow our momentum as the #1 audio company in America.”
Hillman commented that iHeartMedia “is the leader in the audio space in America, backed by a management team deeply committed to growth and innovation, and I’m excited to join and contribute to what’s next. I look forward to working with iHeart’s leadership, partners, and the talented Legal team to help advance the company across every corner of the audio landscape.”
