NATPE is taking into account “the integral role MVPD’s play in the global content distribution ecosystem” by launching what it calls “a broad new initiative to embrace this industry sector that will continue throughout 2021 and beyond.”

In addition to forming a soon to be named MVPD committee and conducting special MVPD-focused keynotes and sessions during the NATPE Virtual Miami conference, scheduled for January 19-21, 2021, a December 15 kickoff event is in the works.

Introducing “Content Distribution on a Global Scale: MVPD’s and the Worldwide Content Market,” which NATPE says “will take a deep dive to explore where the industry’s global MVPD content sector is going.”

It’s scheduled for the next NATPE V-Front presentation. Hosted by TV5MONDE USA, the no-cost event is scheduled for 1pm ET/10am PT on December 15. It will be moderated by Horowitz Research President and longtime MVPD observer Howard Horowitz and feature as panelists Verizon Consumer Group Chief Content Officer Erin McPherson; Liberty Latin America VP Chief Programming Officer Stephane David; and Virgin Media, Liberty Global Head of Programming David Bouchier.

“Our goal at NATPE is to continue to advance the content conversation,” NATPE President/CEO JP Bommel said. “While evolving rapidly, the relationship between content producers, rights-holders, and networks with MVPD buyers is more important today than ever.  MVPDs  remain a key conduit for delivering content to homes and screens everywhere.”
