A Move From Downtown St. Louis For KMOV

It’s a former Meredith Local Media CBS affiliate serving the St. Louis market and, until now, has used offices in studios in an office tower overlooking the Gateway Arch as its home.

That’s about to change, as the station’s new owner — Gray Television — has purchased a vacant building along 1-270 between Lambert International Airport and the upscale suburb of Creve Coeur, Mo.

According to the St. Louis Business Journal, 77 Progress Parkway in Maryland Heights, Mo., means progress for KMOV-4.

The deal transpired on May 3, and sees Gray paying $8.7 million for the structure from Biomedical Partners II LLC.

It will bring to an end 53 years of bringing broadcasts to viewers from the 20-story Gateway Tower at 1 Memorial Drive. It presently houses 120 employees and is a leased facility with 28,000 feet.

The new building boasts 42,000 square feet and is closer to affluent communities such as Ladue, and across the river from St. Charles.

The goal? A move-in date of perhaps August or September 2023.

After calling Gateway Tower home for more than 40 years, Audacy-owned News/Talk KMOX moved to the Park Pacific Building at 1220 Olive St. under CBS ownership. That was a decade ago.

With the KMOV move, the city of Maryland Heights gains its second broadcast TV station, as KTVI-2 is housed within city limits.
