With Jesus Nothing’s Impossible.
That’s the motto and inspiration for the call letters of a Class B AM currently simulcasting the Gospel programming of a Class A FM serving a picturesque portion of the Carolinas.
It’s just been sold, and the owner is a Chicago-based non-secular broadcaster known for its “moody” take on inspirational audio content.
Also in TRANSACTIONS TODAY: Urban One closes on an AM deal in the District.
For $425,000, WJKB-AM 950, licensed to Moncks Corner, S.C., near the city of Charleston, is being traded to Moody Bible Institute of Chicago from Kirkman Broadcasting.
The deal includes FM translator W299CY at 107.7 MHz, presently dark.
A $21,250 escrow deposit has been made to Todd W. Fowler of Fowler Media Consulting.
The remainder is due at closing.
But, that’s just one part of the deal. Moody is also paying to Kirkman $200,000 for all associated real estate.
Kirkman’s other properties are comprised of WQSC-AM & WQNT-AM in Charleston; WTMZ-AM in Dorchester Terrace, S.C.; and WWIK-AM in McClellanville, S.C.
Moody presently has no stations in South Carolina, Georgia or North Carolina.

- Urban One has completed its $4.2 million acquisition of WTEM-AM 980 in Washington, D.C. from Daniel Snyder-controlled Red Zebra Broadcasting. The Sports Talker and home of the NFL’s Washington Redskins game play-by-play is the onetime WRC-AM and presently boasts 50kw day/5kw night. Greg Guy of Patrick Communications is the exclusive broker in this transaction.
