Hannity has some bragging rights, too

Sean HannityWhile Politico just broke out some numbers on Michael Savage’s encouraging ratings since moving into afternoon drive against Sean Hannity, some numbers have been filtering in our way which show Hannity isn’t doing all that bad, either. Remember, Hannity’s arms are tied in numerous markets, as Savage is now on Cumulus 50-kW blowtorches across the nation.

Here’s what we’ve heard:

Below is an AQH station analysis of the Sean Hannity Show in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco for January. Some takeaways: When Sean leaves a station, that station’s numbers go down. When Sean is added to a station, that station’s numbers go up.

For example, in Dallas-Ft. Worth, Hannity scored a 1.9 in Men 35-64 compared to WBAP’s 2.2, but WBAP was doing a 5.9 with Hannity previously. Salem’s KSKY-AM Dallas (Hannity’s new affiliate) was doing a .3 or .4 without him behind the mic.  So, he quadrupled KSKY number and WBAP lost half.

Here are the year to year numbers for Sean in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.  Additionally, Sean beat KABC in Los Angeles, but surprisingly ,Savage currently has no LA affiliate:

More topline numbers:

Hannity’s move to Clear Channel-owned WOR-AM has helped boost the year-to-year afternoon drive audience:

Year-to-year growth (JAN’13 to JAN’14):

WOR-AM M-F 3p-6p

P 12+ +79.1%

A 25-54 +22.0%

M 25-54 +104.8%

Savage’s new timeslot on WABC-AM has resulted in a decrease in audience year-to-year and month-to-month:

WABC-AM

A 25-54 -19.6% from DEC’13 (month-to-month)

A 25-54 -35.3% from JAN’13 (year-to-year)

In a similar fashion, Hannity has boosted audience in several other key markets, including the following:

Los Angeles

KEIB-AM – year over year growth with P 12+ and Adults 25-54

San Francisco

KNEW-AM – year over year growth with P 12+

Dallas

KSKY-AM – year over year growth with P 12+ and Adults 25-54
