The Sunshine State town of Port St. Joe is perhaps one of the sleepier burghs in Florida. Here, Omni Broadcasting has decided to part ways with an FM it owns.
The buyer is a religious broadcaster, continuing a trend of Christian media deals in an environment where God’s word commands the dollars sellers desire.
Divine Word Radio, a Florida-based non-profit organization that acquires and broadcasts radio programs “that teach” — specifically the New Testament of the Bible — is agreeing to acquire WTKP-FM 93.5 in Port St. Joe, Fla.
The Class C2 FM serves a largely underpopulated area, due southeast of Panama City.
The seller, Omni, is gaining $225,000 from the sale of WTKP, and the entire payment is being delivered in the form of a refundable deposit. It is currently being held in escrow by John C. Trent, the legal counsel for Omni.
WTKP had been a part of The Ticket Sports Network. However, it fell silent in 2019 for a second time, following a period of silence between November 2015 and May 2016.
Omni acquired WTKP in May 2012 for $135,000.
