The auto insurance category may be one of the fiercest when it comes to gaining a competitive advantage, and that has led to wild spending on marketing across all media by GEICO.


This week, Media Monitors’ Spot Ten TV report puts another big auto insurer at the top of the heap, thanks to a sizable spot play count.

As shown below, Progressive tops GEICO as the top brand to use spot TV, based on play count.

This week, it is a two-player fight, with Allstate and Liberty Mutual absent from the Spot Ten.

Meanwhile, auto dealers are at it again, with increased activity from Chevrolet, Nissan and Ford.
