A Downstate Illinois AM Is Spun

At the start of 2021, it became known that Iliana Communications had agreed to divest its stations in one Illinois town.

Now, Iliana has agreed to sell an AM, along with its FM translator, in another municipality in the Land of Lincoln.

With Dave Brown signing off on the deal, Iliana is agreeing to part ways with WITY-AM 980 in Danville, Ill., and W258CY at 99.5 MHz.

WITY-AM is a Class B facility with a formidable 1kw signal from 3 towers.

At present, it is “Iliana’s Best Choice,” airing a Classic Hits format in between plenty of agricultural news reports from RFD.

Soon, the future of WITY and its programming will be in the hands of Randy Richmond Services.

It has agreed to pay $208,000 for the AM and FM translator; a $5,000 deposit has been made to Iliana.

There is no broker or finder associated with this station.

The sale price is significantly higher than Iliana’s January deal, which saw Spoon City Media, a La Porte, Ind., based entity led by Matt Moore, agree to purchase WBYS-AM 1560 and its FM translator W229BZ at 93.7 in Canton, Ill.

The value of that deal: $30,000.
