A Deal ‘Disruptor’ Grabs A Richmond FM Translator

Until recently it has been a part of the Delmarva Educational Association’s Truth Network Christian Talk and Teaching family. Now, this 30-watt FM translator serving much of Virginia’s capital city is being spun.

It’s a “Disruptor” that’s acquiring the facility.

W299DB at 107.7 MHz in Richmond is being sold by the Nancy Epperson-led licensee.

The buyer is Disruptor Radio, led by John Fredericks.

That’s the MAGA Radio Network proprietor who is the Managing Member of Chesapeake, Va.-based Disruptor.

The business name says it all, as Fredericks hopes to attract conservative Talk radio listeners with his own brand and style of programming.

In March 2020, Fredericks signed off on an asset purchase agreement that will give his company ownership of WNTW-AM 820 in Chester, Va., serving the Richmond market.

Also included in the deal: FM translator W224EB, at 92.7 MHz in Chester. The signal covers the town, sandwiched between Richmond and Petersburg, and does not reach either city.

Now, Fredericks has a city-grade FM thanks to another deal with Epperson’s DEA; the WNTW and W244EB deal saw DEA as the seller.

With Davina Sashkin of BakerHosteler serving as counsel for both parties in this transaction, W299DB is being spun for $200,000. A $10,000 deposit has been made and is being held in escrow.
