She has held senior leadership roles across financial advisory, investment banking, and risk management, including roles where she advised companies, investors, and boards on complex financial and strategic matters.

Perhaps more poignantly, she is described by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation as a former financial advisor with expertise in restructuring, risk management, and governance.

Introducing the newest member of the Cumulus Media Board of Directors.

Taking the seat is Carol Flaton. Her appointment follows the resignation of Joan Hogan Gillman from the board, effective today (1/15).

No reason was given by Cumulus for Gillman’s departure, as it welcomed Flaton.

Flaton has served on the boards of such entities as Hornblower; defunct home goods retailer Bed, Bath & Beyond; and Talen Energy Supply.

For Cumulus, a company with severe fiscal challenges, she could be looked at as a solutions specialist. Flaton’s resume includes roles as a Managing Director at AlixPartners, where she specialized in restructurings and turnarounds.

Prior to AlixPartners, she was a Managing Director at Lazard, advising debtors, creditors, and equity holders engaged in restructurings, debt exchanges, 363 sales (selling a company’s assets under Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code), acquisitions, refinancings, and capital raises.

Flaton resides in Sharon, Conn., and serves on the board of the Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy, the state’s largest land trust.

Gillman is known for her former roles as Executive Vice President of Time Warner Cable and President of Time Warner Cable Media.
