As of Thursday, March 5, Alfredo Perez, a Bankruptcy Judge in the Houston-based Southern District of Texas federal court, will be playing a key role in the future of an owner of radio stations in markets ranging from Detroit and Fresno to Melbourne, Fla., and Buffalo.
He’s been assigned Cumulus Media‘s voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization filing, submitted by two Porter Hedges LLP attorneys on behalf of the company led by Mary Berner since she succeeded Lew Dickey in October 2015. Serving as co-counsel are pro hac vice attorneys from Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison LLP.
There are numerous filings, and they include concurrent cases involving “Cumulus Media Intermediate Inc.,” “Cumulus Media Investments LLC,” and “Cumulus Media New Holdings Inc.” Among these filings are a series of emergency motions. A designation of a “complex” Chapter 11 bankruptcy case has also been submitted to Perez’s court.
