A Capital District Addition to Upstate NY Duties For VanDerbeck

In mid-August, Howard Greiner was named Metro President for iHeartMedia in Nashville. This saw Grenier depart Upstate New York, where he had oversight of the company’s radio stations in Albany-Schenectady-Troy; Poughkeepsie; and Sussex, N.J., leading the company to name Bob Morgan its new area leader.

Now, the Market President for the company’s Mid-Hudson Valley and Sussex County stations is adding New York’s Capital District to his duties.

Rob VanDerbeck is adding the role of Market President for the iHeartMedia stations in Albany-Schenectady-Troy. The broadcast sales veteran will continue to oversee as Market President the Poughkeepsie and Sussex properties, while adding WPYX “PYX 106,” News/Talk WGY-AM & FM, Adult Contemporary WRVE “99.5 The River,” Classic Hits WTRY, Top 40 WKKF “102.3 KISS FM,” Bobby Bones Show home WRVE HD2 “Wild Country 99.9,” and WOFX “FOX Sports 980.”

“Rob has been exceptional in leading our stations in Poughkeepsie and Sussex, and I am looking forward to working with him as he expands his oversight into the Capital Region,” said Morgan, now President for iHeartMedia Upstate New York.

VanDerbeck commented, “I am excited for this next chapter. As a lifelong competitor, and I look forward to competing once again in the Albany Market and working alongside our strong, talented team to deliver great results.”

VanDerbeck started at iHeartMedia in 2012 as Senior Vice President of Sales in the Mid-Hudson Valley and in Newton-Sussex, N.J., which borders Orange County, N.Y. In 2022, he was elevated to Market President for both markets. Prior to his tenure with iHeartMedia, he served as Director of Sales at Pamal-controlled Albany Broadcasting for two years and as Vice President of Sales at Cumulus Broadcast for nearly a decade.
