A Buckeye State Combo Gets A ‘Total Media’ Take

It’s known as the home of The Telegram News, Zip Printing and “The Radio,” a hub for four broadcast brands serving Southern Ohio from Jackson County, due west of Parkersburg.


Soon, an AM, FM and FM translator serving a small city to the northeast of Jackson, Ohio, will be added to the mix, pending FCC approval.

Total Media, the d/b/a name used by licensee Jackson County Broadcasting Inc., has signed off on an asset purchase agreement that will give it ownership of WATH-AM 970, W246CE at 97.1 MHz, and WXTQ-FM 105.5 in Athens, Ohio.

The seller is WATH Inc., headed by President David Palmer.

Signing off on the purchase for Total Media is President Alan Stockmeister.

The transaction is valued at $1.06 million. A $20,000 deposit credited toward the total purchase price has been credited to the buyer. A $380,000 cash payment will be made at closing. The remaining $660,000 will be honored in an interest-free Promissory Note.

A Time Brokerage Agreement is in place, giving Total Media immediate control of the stations.
