A Bigger, Broader NAB Call For FCC Rule Reform

On April 2, the NAB’s legal team led by NAB Chief Legal Officer and EVP/Legal and Regulatory Affairs Rick Kaplan filed an ex parte letter with the FCC expressing the “urgent need” to eliminate the national cap on broadcast television ownership. That was in response to a Pai Commission-era Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that remains an open Media Bureau docket.


Now, Kaplan & Co. have filed a 145-page manifesto that repeats its request for the elimination of the national TV ownership rule while also stating that the Commission “should scale back rules that micromanage radio broadcasts.”
