WISH Granted … and More: DuJuan McCoy Gets DirecTV Deal

In an announcement that arrived late Friday, Circle City broadcast TV viewers who rely on DirecTV to get their local channels will now be able to get the local ABC, MyNetworkTV and The CW Network affiliates.

At long last, DirecTV and DuJuan McCoy-led Circle City Broadcasting have come to terms on a carriage agreement.

The new multi-year carriage agreement brings WRTV-6, the ABC affiliate in Indianapolis, to DirecTV for the first time since McCoy’s company acquired it from The E.W. Scripps Co.

Perhaps more monumentally, DirecTV is also adding WISH-8, the local news-heavy home of The CW; and WNDY-23.

The agreement encompasses DirecTV, AT&T U-verse and DirecTV STREAM subscribers.

As of 4pm Eastern, WRTV is now available to subscribers across the platforms, with WISH-TV and WNDY-TV expected to launch in the coming weeks. “This agreement is a significant milestone for our viewers and advertising partners,” said McCoy. “We are pleased to restore and expand access to all three of our stations across DIRECTV’s platforms throughout the Indianapolis market.”

The agreement marks the end of a nearly seven-year carriage impasse between Circle City Broadcasting and DirecTV involving WISH-TV and WNDY-TV. “The return of both stations represents an important step in expanding access to local news, weather, sports, and entertainment programming for viewers throughout Central Indiana,” the company said.
