On Wednesday, he was busily publicizing Seaboard Networks‘ launch of “Bay Rock—Baltimore’s Classic Rock” in the role of Marketing Solutions Consultant, following the demise of WZBA-FM with its sale to K-LOVE Inc.
Now, many across the radio industry are expressing shock and sadness, as Bob Stei has unexpectedly passed away, RBR+TVBR has confirmed.
Stei (whose surname is pronounced “sty”) was poised to host a weekend shift on “Bay Rock” while continuing his syndicated programs “The Grunge Garage” and “The Britpop Show.” He died on August 13.
“We are all shocked and heartbroken by the news,” said Seaboard Networks and Maryland Media One President/CEO Steve Clendenin. “Bob was a valued colleague and friend, and his loss is being felt deeply across our team.”
Stei is survived by his wife and three children, aged 20, 12 and 10. A GoFundMe page has been established by daughter Kim Steinberg.
“Our family is trying to navigate an unimaginable loss while also facing the immediate costs that come with it,” Steinberg said. “He was a light in so many people’s lives, both personally and through his radio career, and his sudden passing has left a deep emotional burden on all of us.”
