Until now, the lone way fans of the National Hockey League team in Minneapolis-St. Paul could follow live play-by-play without paying for it was via the radio. That continues via iHeartMedia’s KFAN-FM with the upcoming 2026-2027. But, for those seeking to watch the games on broadcast TV, there’s a forthcoming plan that’s being cemented soon.
Minnesota Wild games are returning to fans across the state via “local television,” the club announced on Tuesday. It is coming to fruition through the launch of “an exclusive multimedia television network” that will debut this season.
A team-owned and operated multimedia platform, Minnesota Wild broadcasts will be fully managed in-house in collaboration with NHL Productions, with the Wild organization overseeing all aspects of production, distribution, sales and marketing.
“We are extremely excited to launch our new multimedia television network,” said Minnesota Wild Chief Revenue Officer and Executive Vice President Mitch Helgerson. “This move is all about our fans and ensuring they continue to have reliable, direct access to our games, just as they have in previous seasons. We look forward to sharing additional details in the coming weeks as we prepare for the season ahead.”
Fans will be able to watch Minnesota Wild games through a variety of options this season — including cable, satellite, streaming services and over-the-air.
What’s not known is the over-the-air TV channel that will score the Wild’s games in its home market. What is confirmed is that the demise of the FanDuel Sports Network’s NHL coverage is all but cemented.
“More details on availability, channel locations and pricing of a direct-to-consumer streaming option (annual and monthly subscriptions) will be announced prior to the start of the regular season,” the team shared. It added that the Minnesota Wild multimedia network will produce every regular season game that is not nationally televised by NHL exclusive broadcast partners ABC, ESPN, ESPN+/Hulu, and TNT.
KFAN airs audio coverage of the team’s games that are produced by the Minnesota Wild Audio Network, the largest network in the NHL.
Minnesota Wild telecasts will feature Anthony LaPanta as play-by-play announcer, Ryan Carter as lead analyst, Kevin Gorg as rink-side reporter, and Katie Storm and Wes Walz serving as the primary hosts of the Wild pre- and postgame shows. Alex Stalock and Lou Nanne will also serve as analysts for select games.
For fans inside Grand Casino Arena, KFAN’s audio coverage can be heard with little to no latency at 95.7 MHz.
