Cox Media Group has hired a Vice President of Local Revenue and Client Growth for its group of radio stations, a move the Apollo Global Management-controlled entity sees as “reinforcing the company’s strategic focus on strengthening client partnerships and accelerating revenue growth for both CMG and its clients.”

Danny Bortnick will join CMG on July 13.

In this newly created leadership role, Bortnick will partner with market leaders and sales managers to drive local customer and revenue growth. “He will work with cross-functional teams to align client engagement and revenue strategy, focused on long-term growth through strong client relationships and innovative solutions,” CMG said in a Tuesday announcement. “He will also focus on enhancing CMG Radio’s high-performing, client-first sales organization, advancing sales enablement, and ensuring consistent execution across markets.”

Bortnick reports directly to CMG Radio President Rob Babin. “Danny is a results-driven revenue leader with a strong track record of building high-performing teams and driving revenue growth across multiple platforms,” Babin said. “His ability to connect strategy to execution and foster trusted partnerships with clients makes him the right leader to help take CMG Radio’s local revenue performance to the next level.”

Bortnick formerly served as Director of Sales for Hubbard Radio and 2060 Digital in West Palm Beach, where he led revenue strategy across multiple stations while rebuilding the team and implementing new tools to modernize the local marketplace approach.

He joined Hubbard in October 2024 after spending 6 1/2 years at iHeartMedia, exiting as Region SVP of Sales for Washington/Baltimore. Before that, he spent eight years at the former CBS Radio as its VP/Director of Sales in Washington, D.C. He began his career in radio in 2005 as an AE for Katz Radio Group’s Christal arm, and would become an AE at WINS Radio in New York in 2006.

“I’m honored to join the CMG family under Rob Babin’s leadership, and I’m excited to help accelerate local revenue growth across the organization,” Bortnick said. “Local media plays an essential role in every marketer’s strategy, and CMG Radio’s brands deliver measurable impact for our clients. I look forward to partnering with our talented teams across the country to continue building lasting client relationships, driving innovation, and delivering exceptional results.”
