The Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council (MMTC) has created a fellowship in the name of an iconic broadcasting industry-focused Washington, D.C. attorney, who calls it “an honor of a lifetime for which I am grateful.”
Those words come courtesy of Erwin Krasnow, the Foster Garvey attorney who formally retired at the start of 2020.
An Inside the Beltway legal fixture since joining Kirkland & Ellis in March 1964 as an associate, Krasnow’s career included stints as SVP/General Counsel at the NAB from October 1976-March 1984, and a lengthy role as a Partner at Verner, Liipfert, Bernard, McPherson & Hand, is actively saying goodbye to his clients and peers.
Following a two-year stint at Shook Hardy & Bacon, Krasnow joined Foster Garvey predecessor Garvey Schubert Barer.
In addition to his legal experience, Krasnow is also known for his years of service on the MMTC, serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chair of the MMTC Mentoring Committee.
“I am humbled and honored to have my name associated with
an MMTC fellowship program for law students and lawyers with a passion for civil rights and social justice,” Krasnow said.
MMTC’s Fellowship and Social Justice and Digital Equity Policy Programs are designed to “increase the pipeline of diverse workers and professionals and greatly improve our impact in addressing how to support our nation’s most vulnerable communities in areas such as essential communications and technology access; employment and upskilling, leadership, ownership; and more.”
