Japan-based ASTRODESIGN has joined the SRT Alliance, a collaborative community of industry leaders and developers striving to achieve lower latency internet video transport.
As part of ASTRODESIGN’s overall strategy to release a more diverse range of products, the company plans to introduce a line-up of SRT Ready products including the recently released TR-5004 as SRT transmission device.
The SRT Alliance, founded by Haivision in April 2017, already has more than 650 members. Its mission is to overcome the challenges of low-latency live streaming by supporting the collaborative development of SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), the fastest growing open-source streaming project. SRT is a free open-source video transport protocol and technology stack originally developed and pioneered by Haivision, which enables the delivery of high-quality and secure, low-latency video across the public internet.
“As we join SRT Alliance, ASTRODESIGN intends to take full advantage of this globally recognized open standard in our product design,” said Ryoji Furuta, Head of International Sales Division of ASTRODESIGN. “We will use SRT technology to become the gateway between IP and legacy baseband systems.”
Peter Maag, Chief Strategy Officer, Haivision and Inventor of the SRT Protocol, added, “We’re pleased to see the SRT protocol being actively implemented by some of the world’s biggest broadcast and enterprise streaming workflows as its adoption and industry-wide recognition continues to grow, becoming the de facto standard for low latency internet streaming.”
