He’s been known for his tower climbs. Now, he’s at it again — this time as FCC Chairman. Brendan Carr spent a part of Monday with a crew working atop an 1,800-foot broadcast tower in Alabama.
Carr has long championed the talent and dedication of America’s telecom and tower crews, voicing his approval on social media. “He has always welcomed the chance to highlight their important work,” the Commission said.
That’s one reason why Carr donned a helmet and went up in the sky as a part of his meeting agenda in Alabama, which was scheduled to include a stop at an undisclosed local TV broadcaster, and a meeting with public safety officials and 911 call center operators at the Mobile County Emergency Management Agency.
“America’s tower crews get the toughest jobs done,” Carr said. “They do the hard, often gritty work necessary to keep America’s communications networks running. It is always an honor to climb with them, and I look forward to joining them today. I look forward to these visits and learning more about the contributions this broadcast TV station is making to its local community. I also look forward to engaging with public safety officials on areas where federal and state emergency management professionals can continue our important collaboration.”
