On Monday, February 27 at 2pm, on the first day of the event hosted by America’s Public Television Stations (APTS), the changing media landscape will serve as the backdrop for a lively discussion on strategic issues of public television, such as streaming. “Technology innovations that will help secure and define our future” is also a part of the chat.
Panelists for this session include:
- Jeffrey Cole, Director, Center for the Digital Future, University of Southern California
- Andrew Russell, President and CEO, PBS SoCal and KCET, Los Angeles, California; Board Chair, America’s Public Television Stations
- Madeleine Noland, President, Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC)
- Moderated by John Zeglis, retired Chairman and CEO, AT&T Wireless; Board Member, WNIT Public TV of South Bend, Indiana; Board Member America’s Public Television Stations
“We’ll be exploring the technological, programmatic and service innovations that we in public media are making – and still need to make – to ensure our success in the demanding years to come,” APTS says of the five-day conference.
Immediately preceding this panel, at 1:30pm Eastern, FedEx Corporation founder and executive chairman Frederick W. Smith will be in conversation PBS NewsHour co-anchor Geoff Bennett, discussing his storied company’s continuous innovation since the early 1970s.
On February 28 at 11am Eastern, FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks will be present, and he plans to share his vision for the ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard and public media.
