WASHINGTON, D.C. — With the House of Representatives this evening voting on an unprecedented seventh ballot amid a Speaker of the House standoff splitting the Republican Party now in control of the lower body of Congress, the former House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman — now Ranking Member — has moved forward with selecting the Committee staff that will lead six subcommittees in the 118th Congress.

Of the six appointments, the one of most relevance to the broadcast media industry made by Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-N.J.) is that of Jennifer Epperson.

Epperson will serve as Chief Counsel of the Communications and Technology Subcommittee, and for the past three years has served as Senior Counsel, rising from Counsel.

On the Committee, Epperson played a key role in helping to expand access to highspeed internet service and making broadband more affordable. Prior to joining the staff in January 2020, she served as a FCC Detailee on the Committee. Epperson previously spent four years at the FCC as the Assistant Bureau Chief and Deputy Division Chief at the Enforcement Bureau.

In the new Congress, Epperson will serve under Democratic Staff Director Tiffany Guarascio.
