NAB Plays Up Strong Foreign Registrants For Las Vegas Affair

It’s only nine days away, and it’s just about the only thing anyone wants to talk about, based on the volume of e-mail and conversations with brokers, attorneys and media executives seen ahead of the Easter and Passover holiday.

Excitement for the NAB Show is at a fever pitch, and the association says it is anticipating companies and attendees from across the globe — a not-so-subtle messaging that indicates mega-conferences are ready to welcome international guests.

According to the NAB, registered attendees from some 154 countries are expected between April 23 and 27 in Las Vegas. Exhibiting companies from 38 nations are among those with floor space at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

In fact, attendees from outside the U.S. make up nearly one-quarter of all pre-registered 2022 NAB Show attendees. This closely mirrors the 2019 NAB Show percentage.

Delegations attending the 2022 NAB Show include Brazil, Columbia, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Turkey, and Vietnam.

And, it is perhaps one reason why flights, which seem to be more limited in a post-pandemic world, feature some more high-capacity options. For instance, Delta Air Lines Flight 660 on April 24 from its Atlanta hub to Las Vegas is a sprawling Airbus A330-300 with a 2-4-2 seat configuration in the main cabin. As of April 14, available seating was limited to middle seats.

“At a time when content can travel around the world in a blink of an eye, there is nothing like NAB Show to help the content community discover the tools, trainings and insights that will unleash the next global phenomenon,” said NAB EVP/Managing Director of Global Connections and Events Chris Brown. “We are excited to welcome back our friends and partners from all across the globe as our industry gets back to doing business in-person.”

The NAB Show participates in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Trade Event Partnership Program, which recruits international trade delegations to select U.S. trade shows and connects international buyers with U.S. suppliers.

In total, the 2022 NAB Show’s exhibit floor, located in the North Hall, Central Hall and the newly constructed West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, will host 358 exhibitors from 38 countries outside of the United States. This includes a “Great Britain Pavilion” in the North Hall and companies from Canada, Germany, Belgium and France.

Additionally, several international organizations, including the Brazilian Society of Television Engineering (SET), will host meetings for their members at NAB Show. Demonstrations of global technologies currently deployed outside of the U.S. will also be conducted by broadcasters and other media and entertainment companies throughout the Show.
