For just shy of 27 years, Brett Harris was a fixture in morning drive on two Wichita radio stations as one-half of the “Brett & Tracy Mornings” program. Until early April 2017, the show was the anchor of a station owned by Envision Broadcast Network.

By late April, Harris was out of a job as was co-host Tracy Cassidy, as a transaction saw Monte and Doris Miller-owned Rocking M Media take control of their home, KKGQ-FM 92.3.

Now, Harris has resurfaced in a much different way. He’s opened his own business, and the main call letters one needs to know about what Harris is selling are simple: CBD.

Harris, who left radio after exiting KKGQ over salary concerns, become a retail specialist for Landmark Commercial Real Estate, in February formally opened a local Your CBD Store franchise.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Harris is now welcoming customers.

It’s decidedly different for an individual who, prior to taking the KKGQ job, was with Cassidy in the wake-up slot at iHeartMedia’s KRBB-FM 97.9. Harris exited in July 2012.

According to the Wichita Eagle, Harris first became aware of the CBD business in 2018, while attending a convention focused on the trade held in Seattle. His first tie to CBD didn’t involve cannabis: Through Landmark, he helped brokering deals for Your CBD Store locations across the U.S.

Now, fans of his old show may just find Harris offering up “superior quality Hemp-derived products to the market” at a retail shop located next to a Dillons Food Stores in the northeastern part of the metropolitan area.

Meanwhile, the saga of the station Harris last worked at is one that RBR+TVBR extensively covered in 2019. KKGQ is one of six stations that suddenly ceased operations in September 2019, tied to an ugly he said/she said battle between Rocking M and Allied Media Partners, an entity that had been slated to purchase the properties but eventually lost control of the stations.

In January 2020, KKGQ returned to the airwaves as “92.3 The Brand,” airing a Country format. Suite Radio, represented by Envision Networks, is offering the programming.
