It was a busy Tuesday for the FCC with respect to several NPRMs involving broadcast TV.
But, some of the actions weren’t voted on in a virtual Open Meeting by the Commissioners: The adoption of a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on modernizing FCC procedures for determining whether a television broadcast station is “significantly viewed” in a community outside of its local television market came via unanimous consent ahead of the digital affair.
If approved, this would greatly impact whether or not a station may be carried in that community by cable systems and satellite operators.
