Vox Locks In A Fifth In Vermont’s Top Market

For a decade, Bruce Danzinger has acquired, developed, and managed radio stations in a host of medium-sized markets across the eastern U.S. He began his acquisitions in Vermont in 2008, with four Burlington-area stations, following a tenure as Director of Investor Relations for the former American Radio Systems.

On April 24, Danzinger struck a deal to land the latest radio station for his Vox Media Companies. The paperwork was filed with the FCC on Friday (5/4).

For a total purchase price of $660,000, Vox is acquiring a Class C3 facility that is licensed to the Lake Champlain town of Port Henry, N.Y., but is “Addison County’s Radio Station,” thanks to a signal pointed east to Vermont.

The station is WVTK-FM 92.1, which airs a Classic Hits format.

Terms of the deal, which sees Vox purchasing the station from WVTK Radio LLC, call for Danzinger to pay $100,000 in cash at closing. The remaining funds will be held in a promissory note.

With WVTK, Vox will have five stations within the boundaries of the Burlington, Vt.-Plattsburgh, N.Y. market, although WVTK’s signal fades once one approaches South Burlington from Shelburne or St. George, Vt.

Vox’s stations in the market include WEAV-AM in Plattsburgh; WCPV-FM in Essex, N.Y.; WEZF-FM in Burlington; and WXZO-FM, licensed to Willisboro, N.Y.
