Cox Media GroupCox Media Group says the host of the KRMG Morning News in Tulsa, Joe Kelley, is moving to its News-Talker WDBO-A/FM Orlando, replacing “Central Florida’s Morning News with Jim Turner.” Meanwhile, KRMG Afternoon News host Dan Potter has been upped to KRMG morning show host. His first day in the new slot is Monday, 11/19.

“This is quite clearly the most difficult career decision I’ve ever faced. My family and I have loved Tulsa since the moment we arrived more than 7 years ago,” said Kelley.  “Yet, moving to CMG’s Orlando news station, WDBO, has been a long-time goal of mine. The current, retiring host of WDBO’s morning news program has been there for 40 years. So this is, indeed, a rare opportunity.”

After Kelley’s announcement, KRMG’s PD Levi May, didn’t have to look very far to find a new host to lead KRMG’s morning news program.  “We are very excited about the opportunity to promote from within, and Dan Potter brings his outstanding talent to mornings, and will further grow our listening audience.”

“Under Joe Kelley’s leadership, the KRMG Morning News has become the single most important morning show in Oklahoma, both in terms of content and listenership,” said Potter. “I hope to continue the growth Joe started and to attract new listeners to the show. I am humbled, honored and very excited for this opportunity.  I anchored newscasts on a similar morning show in Dallas-Fort Worth for over 15 years and am constantly impressed by KRMG’s commitment to covering breaking news better than anyone. You could take this newsroom and this product and put it in any major market in the country and be competitive.”
