Ajit PaiThe NAB 2012 Radio Show is on the agenda next week, and just added to the schedule is a session with the newest FCC Commissioner, Republican Ajit Pai.

The radio show is being held in Dallas from 9/19-21/12. The session with Pai is scheduled for the first day.

Entitled “A Conversation With FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai” and moderated by NAB Executive Vice President and General Counsel Jane Mago, it will examine issues of concern to radio broadcasters and give Pai the opportunity to share his views on communications policy and the future of free, local radio broadcasting.

From NAB, here is Pai’s biographical boilerplate: Pai joined the FCC as Commissioner in May 2012 and is focusing on creating a regulatory environment in which competition and innovation can flourish, for the benefit of American consumers. Between 2007 and 2011, Pai held several positions in the FCC’s Office of General Counsel, including Deputy General Counsel. Prior to joining the FCC, he was a partner in the Communications Practice at Jenner & Block LLP and Associate General Counsel at Verizon Communications Inc. He also held positions in the United States Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

RBR-TVBR observation: We have no idea how many puns we made over the years at the expense of former Commissioner Michael Copps. It’s just one of those kinds of names. Now it would appear that Mr. Pai is going to bear the brunt of this pursuit in the immediate future.
