A “hometown Country station” on the east side of the Wasatch Front’s Twin Peaks is trading hands.
Meanwhile, a Class B AM to the east of Atlanta has been sold.
These are the deals in detail in RBR+TVBR‘s TRANSACTIONS TODAY for Thursday, July 20.
In the first of our two deals involving broadcasts in kHz, Ephraim, Utah-based Air-Free Wireless, 100% controlled by Troy Shelley, is acquiring KTMP-AM 1340 in Heber City, Utah.
The facility broadcasts with 1kw from 1 tower and has a non-directional Class C authorization from the FCC.
The acquisition of KTMP marks the first acquisition of a full-power radio station for Shelley’s company. It has ownership of six FM translators in Utah.
KTMP is being sold for $125,000, with an escrow payment of $7,500 made to the joint sellers, Creek Broadcasting Corp. and Sandy Mahoney.
There is no broker associated with this transaction.
A DOUBLE ‘RAINBOW’ DISAPPEARS
In the Atlanta suburbs to the east sits WGFS-AM 1430, which has the unusual output of 3,900 watts during daylight hours and 212 watts at night, from 1 tower.
WGFS is one-half of Way Broadcasting‘s “Rainbow 1420“, which airs a diverse mix of multicultural programming in simulcast with Class D WATB-AM in Decatur, Ga.
WGFS is licensed to Covington, Ga., and covers the I-20 corridor between Conyers and Madison.
Now, WGFS is set to go in its own direction, as WGFS’s licensee — the Arthur Liu-led Multicultural Radio Broadcasting Inc. — agrees to sell the station to Light Media Holdings for $50,000.
A 10% escrow deposit has been made to MRB by the buyer.
Beth Griffin served as the exclusive broker in this transaction, representing Liu and MRB. The seller’s legal counsel in this transaction is Mark Lipp at Wiley Rein LLP.
Light Media Holdings is majority-controlled by Danny Wilson, of Winter Springs, Fla. This marks the entity’s entry into radio station ownership.
