Here’s a unique—and unusual—tie-in for a sports station and a local salon: NRG Media’s Sports Talker KOZN-AM Omaha is having morning men Matt Schick and Nick Bahe of “Schick and Nick” partnering with the M. Constantino Salon. The launched a “Get Out of the Doghouse” campaign 10/7 where they invite listeners to email what got them in the doghouse with their significant other.

Just how carefully the listeners can craft and weave their tale of how they “got in the doghouse” could earn them the ticket to get out… a gift certificate to M. Constantino for their significant other. The unique promotion was crafted by the morning duo when they requested a distinguished salon partner that Omaha men will feel comfortable using regularly and would also appeal to Omaha women.

“We ‘men’ have a basic innate challenge that A) we really have no idea where to go to get our wives or girlfriends a gift that they will truly love and appreciate and B) that there are other options to the barbershop that men should truly consider if they want to look their best,” said Bahe.

Schick said that by selecting M. Constantino Salon as their partner, “we are educating Omaha men on the best place to get hair and spa services so they can look and feel their best in all that they do. The other true benefit is that this partnership will provide our loyal listeners with a resource on what women want when it comes to pampering, M. Constantino Salon is simply the best in the business.”

The campaign launched during a live broadcast from M Constantino. The “Get Out of the Doghouse” weekly winner will be announced on Friday mornings live on Schick and Nick and the grand prize winner will be selected monthly based on listener votes for the “best “Get Out of the Doghouse” submission on the station’s website. Grand prize winners will be announced monthly to earn a day of beauty at M Constantino Salon for their significant other.

RBR-TVBR observation: That’s a tough sell—for both the station and the advertiser, but with the right creative and execution, indeed, a Sports station can bring on a local salon as an advertiser. Great out-of-the box thinking to bring in previously untapped ad dollars.
