The Power of Radio to Promote Music

Music-Record2How does a Country artist without a label make it to the top of the iTunes Country Chart in almost no time at all? The answer: Getting a couple of spins on a popular syndicated Country morning show. In this case, The Bobby Bones Show.

Bones received a copy of “Buy Me a Boat” by aspiring star Chris Janson via email, put it on the air twice, and the rest is history.

More than 80 radio stations carry the program, which is in iHeartMedia’s Premiere Networks stable.

Bones said, “I knew I had to play Chris Janson’s ‘Buy Me a Boat’ and share it with our listeners. It’s a great example of radio’s ability to connect listeners with new music and promote a super talented yet unsigned artist. Our listeners loved hearing his song on the radio and downloaded it right away, helping him jump to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Country Chart in less than a day.”

Bobby Bones claims to have similarly given a shot in the arm to artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Jamie Lynn Spears and Little Big Town.
