JAB reels in station, eyes Redding market

Sara Venegas is both a buyer and seller in a deal for a California FM with a CP that will take it from unrated territory and into the Redding CA market.

The station is KRBN-FM Burney CA. It is currently owned by S&S Venegas LLC.

However, it seems that S&S has an obligation to JAB Broadcasting in the form of a promissory note. JAB has agreed to forgive $65K in debt and give Venegas a 50% stake in the acquiring entity. The other 50% will be held by Elizabeth Plascencia.

KRBN is currently a Class A on 94.3 MHz with 220 W @ 1,437’ serving unrated territory to the northeast of Redding. However, it holds a CP to move its city of license south to Manton CA. It will still be a Class A on 94.3 MHz, this time with 2.1 kW @ 1,119 and a much more favorable transmitter location that will allow the signal to get into Redding and points south.

This deal, when closed, will make a group owner out of JAB. The company already owns KBQF-FM McFarland CA, a Class A on 104.3 MHz with 6 kW @ 327’. It beams from the west toward Bakersfield, with enough power to put a primary signal over about half of the city.
