Gray TV Board Chair Passes Away
The chairman of Gray Television’s board passed away.
William Mayher, III was chair of the board since 1993; he died over the weekend at the age of 77.
For over twenty years, Mayher provided stability and reliable leadership as Gray transformed itself from a small newspaper publisher and broadcaster into one of the largest pure-play television groups in the country, according to the television owner.
“Gray is a better company because of Billy’s leadership, and we will continue to dedicate ourselves to the values that he imparted to us,” said Gray Vice-Chair/President/CEO Hilton Howell, Jr.
Dr. Mayher was a neurosurgeon in Albany, Georgia from 1970 to 1998.
A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, February 3 in Albany, Ga.
