Treasure Valley Broadcasting has sold two Idaho radio stations.
KKOO is licensed to Fruitland and KWEI is licensed to Weiser, which are both located in southwest Idaho on off the Snake River and bordering Oregon.
Educational Media Foundation is the buyer. It’s asking the FCC for permission to operate the facilities as non-commercial stations and seeks a waiver of the main studio rule to operate KKOO and KWEI from EMF’s KLVR in Middleton, California — a 465+ mile and 470+ mile move, respectively.
The price is $600,000 cash, less a $30,000 deposit.
KWEI has equipment issues that the parties agree will either be handled by the seller before closing or by the buyer afterwards. The seller will install an updated EAS unit (that can receive and pass on Common Alerting Protocol EAS messages) or if not, knock $3,000 off the purchase price.
But the bigger financial issue for KWEI is the need for a locked fence around the tower. The seller will either install one that’s at least 6-feet high with a locked gate or if not, cut $4,000 off the purchase price.
KKOO is a Class C0 FM with an ERP of 22,000 watts @ 2,635’ HAAT; it operates on 99.5 MHz.
KWEI is a Class D (non-directional) AM transmitting 8,400 watts day/36 watts night from a single tower; it operates on 1260 kHz.
Griffin Media Brokers represented the seller.
