The NextGen TV Train Rolls Through South Bend

The home of the University of Notre Dame is the latest locale to have launched ATSC 3.0-powered NextGen TV signals to those that have televisions and add-on devices capable of receiving the new broadcast standard.

The introduction of NextGen TV in the South Bend-Elkhart, Ind., market comes thanks to Gray Television-owned Heroes & Icons-affiliated WSJV-28, which is the ATSC 3.0 “lighthouse” for the DMA.

Stations making the NEXTGEN TV leap in the market include dual CBS/FOX affiliate WSBT-22, owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group; WNDU-16, the Gray Televisionowned NBC affiliate; PBS Member station WNIT-34 “PBS Michiana”; and World Harvest Television’s non-secular WHME-46.

BitPath, which is developing new data broadcasting services, led the planning process and
coordinated efforts across the five television stations.

And, it is making its NavPath and BitPoint precise navigation and positioning services available at no charge to Indiana’s first responders.
