DALLAS — The NBA franchise owned by Miriam Adelson, the widow of legendary Las Vegas gaming industry figure Sheldon Adelson; and family members Sivan and Patrick Dumont has successfully secured eight DMAs that will transmit their games produced by TEGNA’s North Texas operation on broadcast TV stations in the respective markets.

As RBR+TVBR first reported in early September, TEGNA’s coverage commences on October 26, with the Mavericks’ matchup against the Phoenix Suns airing on KFAA-29 (formerly KMPX-TV) in Dallas-Fort Worth. In the Metroplex, KMPX will air at least 70 Mavericks games, with 15 simulcast on ABC affiliate WFAA-8.

Starting with the Mavericks/Suns game next Saturday, the following eight additional stations will broadcast all games not exclusively televised nationally:

  • KFDA-10.2 in Amarillo, Tex. (Gray Media)
  • KDBC-4.2 in El Paso (Sinclair)
  • KGBT-4 in the Rio Grande Valley (Nexstar)
  • KXNU-10.2 in Laredo, Tex.  (Gray Media)
  • KMYL-14.1 in Lubbock, Tex. (Gray Media)
  • KXII-12.2 in Sherman-Denison, Tex. (Gray Media)
  • KSHV-45.1 in Shreveport-Bossier City/Texarkana (Nexstar)
  • KJBO-3.2 in Wichita Falls, Tex./Lawton, Okla. (Nexstar)

Pre- and post-game shows will be available in most markets.

“We’re thrilled by the positive response from fans and advertising partners as we gear up to significantly expand the reach of Mavs games,” said TEGNA SVP/Media Opearations Brad Ramsey. “We are grateful to our partner stations from Gray, Nexstar, and Sinclair for helping us create more excitement, for more fans, in even more homes across Texas.”

Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall added, “Providing access to games has always been our top priority. We are thrilled to work with WFAA to bring more fun and excitement to all of our MFFLs across North Texas and beyond.”

A NEW DFW VISION

With KFAA getting new call letters ahead of its rebirth as the Mavericks’ TV flagship, new programming will arrive on October 20 as it drops the Estrella TV network; this was previously reported by RBR+TVBR.

KFAA enjoys carriage on AT&T U-verse TV, Charter Spectrum, DIRECTV, DISH, Frontier Fiber Keller, Fubo, GEUS, Grande Communications, OneSource Communications and Optimum.

Outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth market, Mavericks games will air on TEGNA-owned KAGS-LD 23 and KCEN-6 in Temple-Waco; KYTX-19 in Tyler-Longview; KWES-9 in Midland-Odessa; KXVA-15 in Abilene; and KIDY-6 in San Angelo, Tex.

WFAA and TEGNA are leading local and regional advertising and sponsorship sales for all local games.
