It signed on the air in 2001 as an Alternative station using the call letters formerly assigned to a once-popular Alternative FM in Las Vegas. Today, it is a Class A facility serving Alexandria, La., with Adult Contemporary music, operated under a Time Brokerage Agreement with Stephens Media Group.

Now, SMG is moving forward with converting its leased FM into a owned property.

George S. Flinn Jr., and his Flinn Broadcasting Co. have agreed to sell KEDG-FM 106.9, branded as “Sunny,” in Alexandria, La., to SMG-Alexandria LLC, an affiliate of Tulsa-based Stephens Media.

A $332,000 purchase price will deliver Sunny to SMG, with payment of the full amount due at closing.

There is no broker or finder associated with this deal, which sees Joe Chautin III of Hardy, Carey, Chautin & Balkin serve as SMG’s legal counsel.

Alexandria, La., is presently an unrated market, and SMG operates three other stations there: Country KLAA-FM 103.5, Christian Contemporary KEZP-FM 104.3 “The Bridge,” and Classic Country KBKK-FM 105.5.

An KEDG TBA has been in place for more than 15 years. It was first signed between Flinn and Opus Media Partners. Then, Mapleton Communications acquired Opus for $2.2 million, assuming the TBA for KEDG. In July 2019, SMG purchased Mapleton’s 37 remaining radio properties, taking on the lease agreement in the process.
