An application has been filed with the Commission that would see Shoreline Communications Inc., a husband-and-wife licensee who are also partners at a Columbia, Ky., law firm, become the owner of an FM in Williamsburg, Ky., and its sibling in Jellico, Tenn.
According to an announcement shared by Ed Henson of Henson Media, who served as the exclusive broker in this transaction, Shoreline is agreeing to purchase from Whitley Broadcasting Company both WEZJ-FM in Williamsburg, and WEKX-FM in Jellico.
A $925,000 payment has been agreed to, with full payment to be made at closing.
The primary markets for these stations are Williamsburg, Corbin and London, Ky.
Country WEZJ-FM 104.3 is a Class C3 facility, while WEKX-FM is a Class A Classic Rocker.
Whitley is wholly owned by David P. Estes, and after a consulting agreement for up to six months, he plans to retire after approximately 40 years in the radio business — all in his hometown of Williamsburg.
Shoreline is led by Mike and Laura Harris, and they will add WEZJ and WEKX to WVLC-FM “The Big Dawg,” WHVE-FM “The Wave” and WKDO-AM and W279DT “The Buck,” which serve Campbellsville, Columbia, the Lake Cumberland area, Liberty and other communities in south central Kentucky.
