Oh, Guel: HDO Comes On ‘Sham’ Deal Claim

At the height of the “Great Recession,” Antonio Cesar Guel became a highly active acquisitor of broadcast television properties — particularly LPTVs. Now, the former President of Hispanic Christian Community Network and the licensee of seven low-power TV stations face a potential license revocation.


What happened? FCC Media Bureau Chief Holly Saurer has issued a Hearing Designation Order, on the grounds that Guel and HCCN are “one and the same,” abused Commission processes and violated its rules, and appear to have engaged in a “sham” transaction.
