DALLAS — The VP/Station Manager of the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate serving North Texas has earned a promotion to President/GM, the company announced on Wednesday.
Now in the top role at WFAA-8 in Dallas-Fort Worth is Carolyn Mungo.
She’ll oversee the stations’ operations across all platforms, as well as community outreach efforts and advertiser growth for the station, and continues to report to TEGNA SVP/Media Operations Brad Ramsey.
Mungo was in her prior role since 2019, rising from Exec. News Director, a position she took in 2012.
“No one is better suited than Carolyn to lead the WFAA and KFAA team into the future,” Ramsey said. “Carolyn’s exceptional leadership and proven track record of building a trustworthy media brand across this region will continue to ensure our viewers and advertisers are well-served.”
Mungo added, “I am honored to carry on the leadership of this talented team. I’ve had a lifelong passion for great journalism and serving local communities and am so proud to be able to continue that mission right here in DFW in this new role.”
Her earlier career stops include stations in Austin, Minneapolis, Phoenix and Houston. Mungo has served on the national advisory board for the Poynter Institute for Media Studies and is a frequent speaker and storytelling coach. She currently serves on the board of the Texas Association of Broadcasters.
