Over the years, Joseph John Pagliarulo has gained national attention for his talk radio show, heard on more than 160 radio stations across the U.S. Now, the man who simply goes by the on-air name Joe Pags is renewing and expanding his relationship with iHeartMedia, inking a two-year agreement.

The deal keeps “The Joe Pags Show” on iHeartMedia’s WOAI-AM 1200 in San Antonio, the foundation property of predecessor company Clear Channel Communications, through 2026.

Sr. VP of Programming Jason McCollim commented, “We’re ecstatic to announce Joe Pags’s commitment to WOAI. His dynamic voice has become synonymous with insightful, spirited broadcasting. This contract is more than an agreement; it’s a promise of continued excellence and engagement with our beloved San Antonio community and the great state of Texas.”

The program’s popularity demonstrates the continued importance of AM Radio, a topic of particular importance on Capitol Hill and with organizations including the NAB. Like many iHeartMedia-owned spoken word AMs, it does not have an FM translator associated with it, leaving 1200 kHz or streaming via the iHeartRadio or TuneIn apps as the key ways to listen to WOAI.

Commenting on the new agreement, Pagliarulo said, “It has been an absolute honor to be on WOAI for 18 years now and I’m so thankful to continue talking with the great people of San Antonio and beyond for years to come! Growing with this community and with iHeart has been an incredible ride. Being on this station has given me the opportunity to reach the kind of national audiences I only dreamed would happen one day. I remain driven and motivated to produce the best show I can every day – and am thrilled it will continue from WOAI.”

Pagliarulo was raised in Lake Worth, Fla., and began his career in radio in 1989 in the West Palm Beach market. He then shifted to a career as a television news anchor, and from 1994-1996, he was the lead news anchor at WEYI-TV in Saginaw-Flint, Mich. He would then anchor AM newscasts for WWMT-TV in Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo, Mich., and from 1997-2002 was a key member of the WLAJ-TV in Lansing, Mich., market.

From 2002-2005, Pagliarulo was a lead anchor at pioneering TV station WRGB-6 in the Albany-Schenectady-Troy market. It was during this tenure that he returned to radio, hosting a show on WHAM-AM in Rochester, N.Y., a few hours to the west of the Capital District. This led to a full shift away from being a TV news anchor, opening himself up to political opinions and discussions on a variety of national and international topics as a talk radio host at WOAI.

While the iHeartMedia News/Talker is Pagliarulo’s home, his program is syndicated through Compass Media Networks through a self-syndication arrangement.
